Time is running out to register for the BWF World Coaching Conference that will be held during the TOTAL BWF World Championships 2019 in Basel.
The two-day conference – on 22 and 23 August – will see experts address various topics relating to elite badminton coaching, sports coaching, Para sport, and sport science.
The list of speakers includes legendary women’s doubles player now coach Zhao Yunlei, former Denmark head coach Lars Uhre, sports performance consultant and mindset coach Allister McCaw, Korea’s para-badminton head coach Kim Myo Jung, and Penny Briscoe OBE, Director of Sport at British Paralympic Association.
Zhao is the first ex-player from the Chinese team to make a presentation at the World Coaching Conference and is currently the team’s women’s doubles coach.
Zhao’s astute reading of the game helped her win tournament after tournament with Zhang Nan in mixed doubles and Tian Qing in women’s doubles – including two Olympic gold medals and five World Championships.
She told the BWF: “I am excited to be able to share my knowledge of the women’s game and in particular the role of the female player in mixed doubles, to the coaches in Basel.
“It will be a great experience for me and I hope all coaches there will gain valuable lessons and skills.”
Apart from expert guidance and on-court tactical insights, coaches registering for the conference will receive tickets for two sessions of the World Championships, refreshments, and a Yonex bag with T-shirt and water bottle.
McCaw, who has worked with numerous Olympians, Paralympians, world champions and 11 Grand Slam tennis champions over the past 24 years, said he is excited to share his knowledge and experience with the badminton community.
“This is going to be one of the highlights of my year and I can’t wait to get to Basel to meet some of the badminton coaches and share some amazing information with them,” McCaw said.
