India’s Ajay Jayaram, on the comeback trail from injury, was outclassed by Thailand’s Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk, 21-17 21-14.

The attention might not be on him, but last year’s bronze medallist Nguyen Tien Minh (Vietnam) booked his third-round place beating Spain’s Pablo Abian 21-7 19-21 21-10.

Unfancied Anggia Shitta Awanda and Delia Destiara Haris of Indonesia caused the upset of the tournament so far, beating Women’s Doubles favourites Bao Yixin/Tang Jinhua (China), 21-14 21-18.

With massive home support, Women’s Doubles No.2 seeds Christinna Pedersen/Kamilla Rytter Juhl had no trouble countering Thailand’s Puttita Supajirakul/Sapsiree Taerattanachai, 21-12 21-16.

Chinese Taipei’s No.8 seed in Women’s Singles, Tai Tzu Ying, was her deceptive best against Indonesia’s Bellaetrix Manuputty during a 21-12 21-14 victory.
